Selena Gomez gets Victoria Beckham voice coach for film accent

The US actress seems to have taken the former Spice Girl’s nickname a bit too literally and toiled with a vocal expert to mimic her.

‘We wanted the accent to be almost very Victoria Beckham, kind of very posh and sophisticated,’ said Gomez, 18. ‘I had a coach for two weeks before the film, so I worked with her very closely and then we had her on set guiding me.’

In the film, Gomez plays a down-to-earth girl who masquerades as a spoilt British heiress while holidaying in Europe. Accents are not all the pair have in common, with Posh, 37, rumoured to have named her new daughter, Harper, after a character in Gomez’s TV show The Wizards Of Waverly Place – a favourite in the Beckham household.

Gomez, who was in London this month for the launch of Disney Channel HD, also worked with British funny woman Catherine Tate, 43, on the new movie.

Gomez said: ‘She was amazing, she was so funny. Off camera she was always making jokes and making everyone laugh.’

The actress and singer, who is dating US heart-throb Justin Bieber, 17, added: ‘I was trying hard to keep a straight face – she would try to make me laugh behind the cameras.’

As for a duet with Bieber, Gomez said: ‘Not any time soon.’

Selena Gomez: Girl's Life August/September 2011 Cover Girl

Selena Gomez amps up her hair on the August/September 2011 cover of Girl’s Life magazine.

The 18-year-old actress/musician opens up about saying goodbye to her Disney stomping grounds, the ‘vicious’ internet and even dishes out a bit of love advice. Check it:

On coming to terms with social media: “There are worse things than someone disliking you and people on the Internet saying this or that, but I can’t lie. It hurts. I have a love-hate relationship with the Internet. I don’t like it in general. It’s vicious. Every choice that I make when it comes to my personal life, my films or my music, I always say, ‘Would my fans be proud of that?’ If I did something to kind of upset them, it would really crush me.”

On her own love advice: “Love is beautiful. It’s hard but so wonderful. You should enjoy it and make sure the person betters you. I’ve been told I keep my heart guarded. My advice is to have fun and to be prepared for anything.”

On letting Wizards go: “I just tried to take everything in. I cried so much. The whole crew on that show has played a huge part of my life. They all watched me grow up and helped raise me in different ways. I feel like I’m still the girl from Texas that moved to L.A., just older and a little bit wiser.”

Demi Lovato Grateful Gomez And Cyrus Stood By Her Side

Disney star Demi Lovato is grateful for the support she received from high-profile pals Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus - because their love helped her get through her darkest days in rehab.

Lovato spent three months in a treatment centre at the end of 2010 and the beginning of this year (11), battling an eating disorder, self-harming and depression issues.

And the singer has now paid a special thanks to Gomez and the Party In The U.S.A. hitmaker for standing by her side, even though her decision to get help and speak out about her problems may have been considered "taboo".

During an E! News interview special with Ryan Seacrest, which aired in America on Wednesday (13Jul11), she said, "Selena and I hadn't spoken in a long time. We just had some issues that we had to deal with. But the day I went into treatment I get a phone call from her and she was the one sobbing on the phone.

"She was like, 'Are you OK? I've been crying non-stop. Are you sure you're OK?' And, all issues aside, I started crying too and I'm like, 'Yes, I'm OK.'"

Cyrus also took time out from her busy schedule to be there for her friend: "She sent me a Christmas present and that meant a lot to me because I didn't get Christmas presents in there (rehab)... I just have incredible friends."

Lovato has previously thanked ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas for the support he gave her while they were dating. The singer/actress was on tour with the Jonas Brothers in South America when she made the decision to seek help.

Victoria, Selena & Demi: Different & Alike In Good Ways

Victoria Justice, Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato are quickly becoming the first names you think of when we say young hollywood.

There are tons of differences between the three 18-year-old actresses, but there are also a lot of similarities.

“Well, we obviously all have the singing and acting thing in common,” Victoria shared with Latina mag. “I would say we’re all pretty hardworking and driven at a young age. We all have crazy, hectic schedules and I’m sure that they work really long hours as I do with not a lot of days off. You have to stay focused and realize that you have a lot of responsibility on your shoulders.”

WERE SELENA GOMEZ AND MILEY CYRUS THERE FOR DEMI LOVATO DURING REHAB?

Demi Lovato's new single Skyscraper is a heartbreaking song about fighting back against her eating disorder and self harm which she spent several months in rehab overcoming. After rehab Demi tweeted the accusatory message, "Btw it's funny how people come around now that your (sic) back on your feet and comin' out with a single... Where were you last year?!" We wondered who she was referring to? Did old BFFs Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez abandon her?

Well the answer is NO. They were totes there for Demi when she needed them. Despite the fact that Demi's friendships with Selena and Miley had gone through rocky times, when it mattered they both came to her aid.

This makes us happy. Go girls sticking together!

In an interview with Ryan Seacrest, Demi said:

"Selena and I hadn't spoken in a long time.

Then discussing Miley she said, "She sent me a Christmas present and that meant a lot to me because I didn't get Christmas presents in there [rehab]... I just have incredible friends."

We're glad to see that Demi Lovato is still referring to Miley and Selena as 'friends'. We all know that Selena and Demi had gone through a rough patch but perhaps now, after rehab, they're stronger than ever.

Aw we hope they can one day be besties like this again. We forgot have funny they were together!

What do you think about Selena and Miley being there for Demi when she needed them? Who do you think wasn't there for her then? Do you want them all to be BFFs again or think they've grown up and grown apart?

Justin Bieber Hints He's Only Having Fun With Selena Gomez

Justin Bieber has sparked concern about his relationship with girlfriend Selena Gomez. The "Baby" hitmaker recently put up a cryptic message on his Twitter page which generated speculations he is not serious with the Alex Russo of "Wizards of Waverly Place".

"I'm not sayin your the one girl, I'm just here to have fun girl," so the 17-year-old heartthrob wrote on Wednesday, July 13 afternoon. Still, it is worth noticing that the "Never Say Never" singer could be referring to the lyrics of a song or a quote in the tweet instead of his relationship with Selena.

In fact, Justin was seen joined by Selena when attending the 2011 ESPY Awards later that day. While they arrived to the event separately, the teen couple sat together in the audience once inside the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live. He even put his arm around her shoulder as they posed for photos together in their adjacent seats.

Justin and Selena were also seen flaunting their togetherness during a recent karaoke outing. Last Sunday evening, July 10, the two went out for some karaoke together at the Lucky Strike in downtown Los Angeles. Singing a cover to Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow's "Picture", they ended their performance with a liplock.

Selena Gomez, 'Wizards of Waverly Place' return July 24

In the midst of everything that Selena Gomez has going on at the moment (including a hit album, a planned tour, a movie, and her personal life), it's really pretty easy to forget that she still has a hit TV show to wrap up in "Wizards of Waverly Place." There are around a dozen episodes still left to go before the series finale, and then we will finally see if Selena's character of Alex truly gets the chance to shine.

For now, though, we just have a brief descrption of her return to the Disney Channel on July 24 for the episode entitled "Misforune at the Beach" (which in some ways explains itself):

"Alex, Justin and Max visit a fortune-teller machine at the beach and then try to get Alex's bad fortune reversed."

You can also check out a few photos from the episode to the left of this article, in addition to a video that highlights some of what this episode is trying to accomplish.

Are you still as big of a "Wizards" fan as ever?
